Get Those Lips Mistletoe Ready

One of winter's biggest beauty challenges is keeping your lips soft and moisturized. The dry conditions and cooler temperatures can cause your lips to become dry, rough and chapped unless you take some steps to protect them. Here are some tips on how you can keep your lips looking luscious this season:

  • Drink lots of water. The first step to keep your lips moist is to hydrate them from the inside out. Make sure that you are drinking lots of water throughout the day.

  • Avoid licking your lips. We are all tempted to lick our lips to keep them moist, but if you do, you are stripping them of their protective barrier, which will make them dryer in the long run.

  • Protect against the sun. Even though the temperature may be cool, the sun's UV rays can still damage the lips because they lack melanin (the pigment that helps shield your skin from UV damage).

  • Change your make-up. Some lipsticks can dry out your lips. Consider changing your lipsticks to ones that can moisturize, or use a lip gloss which is not as drying.
